Safety and dignity for the most vulnerable.
GBV response, psychosocial support and disability inclusion are woven into every UGEAFI program.
UGEAFI takes an inclusive approach, integrating persons with disabilities into all its interventions across North and South Kivu in DRC and in South Sudan — regions heavily affected by armed conflict, displacement and inequalities in access to basic services.
In health, it facilitates access to care through curative services, psychosocial support and basic rehabilitation, with particular attention to people who acquired disabilities through conflict-related violence. In WASH, water points and sanitation facilities are adapted to their needs, and in education UGEAFI raises awareness among teachers, parents and students to build more inclusive learning environments.
To strengthen economic empowerment, persons with disabilities are included in Village Savings and Loan Associations and income-generating activities. Alongside advocacy and community awareness, these efforts reduce inequality, strengthen social cohesion and enable persons with disabilities to play an active role in their communities.
