Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Safe water for Equatoria's communities.
In the Nyale, Mundri and Nkole Payams, UGEAFI rehabilitates water systems and drives hygiene promotion to reduce waterborne disease.
In South Sudan, UGEAFI delivers integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene interventions in the Nyale, Mundri and Nkole Payams — communities facing limited access to safe water, inadequate sanitation and heightened public-health risks.
UGEAFI has improved access to safe water and hygiene services for 15,672 community members, rehabilitating and strengthening water supply systems so families reach safer, more reliable sources closer to home — easing the burden on women and children who once travelled long distances to collect water.
Hygiene promotion and sanitation-awareness campaigns have reached 28,940 people with messages on handwashing, safe water collection and storage, and preventing waterborne diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea. To sustain these gains, UGEAFI trains community water committees to monitor, maintain and protect water facilities.
